A seemingly harmless prank went a little too far after a young British man woke up in a head lock, literally.

On Monday, the West Midlands Fire Service in Birmingham, England found themselves cutting away a bike lock from a young man’s neck.

Apparently the boy had been sleeping when his “friends” put the lock around his neck, locked it, and threw away the key.

“Just when firefighters from Conventry Fire Station thought they’d seen it all, this man turned up with a bike lock around his neck,” read the station's Facebook post.

According to the station, the lock was so strong they had to call in a team of specialists. The Technical Rescue Unit came to the boy’s rescue and eventually the lock was cut from his neck.

Apparently the specialists used a cutting device that is usually reserved for cutting railway tracks.
