It’s a happy ending for a B.C. woman and her pet gecko as it has finally been located and returned several days after going missing on a WestJet flight.

On Sunday, Meryl Bishop flew from Toronto, Ont. to Vancouver and was forced to check her 11-month-old pet gecko. When Bishop arrived in Vancouver she went to retrieve Nom, but she was nowhere to be found. After a search of the airplane, cargo hold, and Pearson International Airport, staff could not find the small reptile.

A frantic Bishop called everyone possible and took to social media to share her story and tell others about the mishandling of her beloved pet. Finally, staff located the missing gecko on Wednesday and Nom was reunited with her momma, a little skinnier than before the ordeal.

“She's not going to be put down for a good little while. She was found in baggage,” explained Bishop. “Massive, massive thank you's to everyone who has shared the post, reached out to WestJet, and reached out to me. It has been a humbling experience to have had help from people all over. My gratitude is immense.”

Bishop says she will be in contact with WestJet on Thursday to find out what happened and how her pet managed to escape from her enclosure. But for now, Bishop is just happy to be reunited with her pet and plans to give Nom lots of snuggles.
