Summer is in full swing and what better way to enjoy it than a day, or 10, at the beach?

Lucky for us, we are surrounded by lakes here in the Okanagan. But, that can also give us a bit of grief when it comes to deciding where to lay down our towels and float our troubles away.

We decided to help you out and compile a list of some of the best beaches around the Okanagan.

Whether you want to thrive in the hustle and bustle of Kelowna’s downtown beaches, or relax and enjoy the beauty of Kalamalka Lake, we’ve got you!

Vernon

Kal Beach

A must stop when venturing through the North Okanagan in the summer, Kal Beach has something for everyone.

Sandy shores, a dock to jump off of, beach volleyball courts, and beautiful views, what more do you need?

Kin Beach

Great for a day out with the family, Kin Beach boasts tons of things to do! Aside from swimming in the cool lake, there is a shaded picnic area, a playground for little ones, volleyball courts and change rooms.

If you want to take in all the action this is a popular place to either hang on the grass or build sand castles on the beach.

Lake Country

Kaloya Park

This serene little park is a great spot to spend the day with the family.

Pixie Beach

Grab your floaties, beach blankets and coolers, this is the perfect beach to spend a whole day at. Quiet and spacious, this spot makes it feel like you and your crew have your own private beach.

Spend the day lying on shore or if you fancy a dip, the ideal incline into the lake makes for a fast and easy swim.

Kelowna

Hot Sands Beach

Perhaps THE place to be in the summer, Hot Sands Beach is a hot spot for locals and tourists alike.

Sharing space with City Park you not only have the option to float for hours in the sunshine, but lounge in the grass, play volleyball or basketball or watch the little ones enjoy the spray park and inflatable water park.

Afterwards, you can pack up your beach supplies and hit the town for dinner or some shopping.

 

Waterfront Park

Just down the boardwalk from Hot Sands, this beach is like being in a different city. Great for a quick sunbathe or adventure, Waterfront Park lets you enjoy the finer things Kelowna offers.

This quiet spot offers a beautiful view of West Kelowna, a quick walk to Rotary Marsh to see some wildlife and a stunning landscape equipped with tiny water features and a gazebo just off of harmony bridge.

Boyce-Gyro Beach

On the opposite side of downtown, toward the mission, lies Gyro Beach, you know the one with the big apple?

Slightly smaller than some of the other beaches, Gyro certainly doesn’t lack in fun. With a stocked concession, paddleboard rental, volleyball courts and a beautiful view down the valley, this beach is a one-stop shop.

 

West Kelowna

Kalamoir Beach

Whether you want to soak up the sun, or just soak in the views, Kalamoir Beach has you covered.

A stunning, accessible dock with a kayak launch, swimming platforms, walking trails and a grassy area, this is a good go-to spot in the summer no matter what you’re in the mood to do.

Gellatly Nut Farm

If you’re in the mood for something a bit more laid back that you can enjoy on your own or with friends, this is a great option.

After taking in the beauty on a stroll through the nut farm, you can sneak away to this not so secret swimming hole for some peace, quiet and a much-needed cool down.

Peachland

 

Swim Bay

This perfect pebble beach is a must visit for those who can spend all day in the lake.

Equipped with a wharf, diving board, zip line and rope swing, Swim Bay specializes in all ways to make swimming even more fun. Added bonus: There is a lifeguard on duty throughout the summer months.

Summerland

 

Gordon Beggs Rotary Beach

This gem is tucked away on Lakeshore Dr in Summerland and is a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

Clean and shaded you can spend your day in the grassy area or hit the docks and take in some history at Kiwanis Pier.

 

Penticton

Okanagan Lake Beach

Perhaps the most popular beach in the South Okanagan, you won’t want to leave once you make it there.

Just off Lakeshore Drive in the heart of Penticton, you can not only enjoy the crisp water of Okanagan Lake, but kiddie slides, rest rafts, and fire pits.

On one end you will run into the historic SS Sicamous and popular kids attraction Loco Landing, while on the other you can find the famous Peach Ice Cream shop to treat yourself after a long day in the sunshine.

Skaha Lake Park

Located at the south end of Penticton you will find this 21-acre summer haven.
