How to set effective goals in 2023

One question we are all too familiar with is: “What's your New Year's resolution?” 

To some, this may seem novel and you'll answer with the first thing that comes to your mind, but for others, setting goals and resolutions is significant.

Why should we set New Year's resolutions?

New Year's resolutions are meant to help us achieve the best version of ourselves. Whether it's an ambitious goal or a smaller personal achievement, it’s all equally important when it’s meaningful to you.

1. Realistic Goals

Try to make your goals challenging but realistic. Goals that are too ambitious may actually demotivate you if you're not making progress toward them. Having goals that are achievable whilst pushing you to be better,  will encourage you to continue. 

2. Specific Goals

It's essential to make goals specific to you and what you’re looking to accomplish. Although it’s easy to be swayed by your friends or by what others are looking to do, having goals in line with your interests will keep you on track.

3. Set Deadlines

Giving yourself a time frame can act as a good motivator. Whether it's a year-long goal or something you'd like to achieve in two months, knowing there's a lurking deadline will push you to complete your goals in a timely manner.

4. Keep Track

Keeping a record of what you have done and noting what went wrong along the journey will help you avoid making these mistakes again. Failure shouldn't be feared, instead, it can provide life lessons and feed your motivation to try even harder next time. Notebooks and diaries are excellent ways to keep tabs on your daily lifestyle and keep track of your progress on your own personal journey.
