As part of a trial program with UBCO, Kelowna RCMP members are relying on dogs to help them cope with work-related stress.
"We have very enthusiastically welcomed these trained therapy dogs into our very dynamic workplace," said Superintendent Brent Mundle. "Front line police work can be very stressful at times."
The project is overseen by Dr. John Tyler Binfet who designed the dog therapy program (B.A.R.K.) to help students deal with their own kind of stress.
The trial period is not over yet at the detachment, but officials are already declaring it successful, so therapy dogs will likely be a fixture in the future.
