A drive-by shooting occurred this morning on the notorious Hein Road in Kelowna’s Rutland.

Several rounds were fired at a home occupied by a woman named Juanita Brandt, her brother, Matthew, and her 25-year-old daughter.

There are bullet holes in the trunk of the young woman’s car, which was hit with two rounds. Two rounds also met the home’s basement window, and another, the flashing over its porch.

Reportedly Juanita heard a bang when the shots were fired around 3:30 or 4 am, but thought nothing of it until she saw the holes in the Toyota this morning. At that time she phoned the police, who are now interviewing everyone in the neighbourhood in their hunt for information on the shooters.

It is unlikely, despite the alarm that is generated by an event like this, that the police will conduct a full investigation involving ballistics experts to discover the type of gun used. This is because nobody was hurt.

The house is located at the 400 block of Hein Road.

If you or anybody you know is aware of information that could assist in this case, please contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
