Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Okanagan, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore Okanagan and Planet Earth Recycling Ltd are pleased to announce they are partnering to bring Clean Sweep to Kelowna on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Clean Sweep is a community round-up of new and used clothing, housewares, furniture, building materials, appliances, and a variety of recyclables such as electronics, batteries, medical equipment and so much more.

“Fall is typically a time when people are cleaning out their homes, garages, yards and wrapping up renovations. We invite everyone to keep new, used and recyclable items out of landfills and bring them down to the Clean Sweep event“, says Neil Smith, Manager of ReStore Okanagan.

“You may be surprised at what you can recycle“, adds Paul Marois, Owner of Planet Earth Recycling. “Whether the items are working or not doesn’t matter because whatever can’t be used by ReStore or Big Brothers Big Sisters can probably be recycled by Planet Earth Recycling.”

Planet Earth Recycling accepts a wide variety of recyclables including electronics, lighting and appliances. For more information on what items they accept, go to:

“We are thrilled to partner with ReStore and Planet Earth Recycling”, says Lisa Hobson, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Okanagan. “Clean Sweep will provide the community with a convenient, one-stop, drop off location and make a big impact to our landfills.”

The event will take place from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, located in the parking lot of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Big Deals Used Furniture Store at 102 – 151 Commercial Drive, Kelowna, BC. Breakfast and lunch will be served by Kelowna-Okanagan Mission Lions Club with proceeds supporting their community initiatives.
