Two separate accidents on the Coquihalla shut down the highway Monday afternoon in both directions.

The first accident occurred before 3:00 p.m. near the Great Bear Snowshed forcing the southbound lane closure. Then nearly 30 minutes later another accident was reported by DriveBC, this one in the northbound lane at the Box Canyon Chainup Area. Crews were also busy recovering a vehicle from the Coquihalla Lakes Road exit to Juliet Creek in the northbound lane.

A special weather statement is still in effect for the Coquihalla as heavy snow is expected throughout Tuesday with 15 to 25 cm expected by Tuesday night. Highway 3 also has a special weather statement from Hope to Princeton.
