The medical marijuana company Tweed says it has no plans to retrieve marijuana that was seized by RCMP at the Kelowna International Airport.
According to Tweed Chairman, Bruce Linton, the marijuana it sought to acquire from growers licensed in B.C. had not been paid for by the company.
“No amount has been paid by Tweed for the medical marijuana in question and, in accordance with the terms of the contracts between Tweed and the vendors, no payment will occur. Tweed will not be proceeding with the planned transfer of material,” says Linton.
B.C. RCMP seized the medical marijuana at YLW on April 4th after the company invited police to inspect the shipment.
RCMP Stg. Duncan Pound has not returned KelownaNow's phone calls on why they took control of the marijuana or if any charges are pending.
According to Linton Tweed does not plan to acquire any more medical marijuana from growers licensed under the Marijuana Medical Access Regulations because the deadline to do so was April 1st.
