West Kelowna council received a report this week on how best to support agriculture and the B.C. Fruit Growers’ Association.

A request that came from the Association was directed to council in June of 2013. The District will support more than a dozen West Kelowna farmers in the creation of the Westside Farm Loop as well as related marketing materials, similar to the Westside Wine Trail.

According to the report the new tourism cluster will look to increase farm visitation and sales through the identification and promotion of nearby farms.

The projects will be funded through the District’s tourism program with the intention that a small farmer contributed marking program to be created in the future.
