Five Hole for Food (FHFF) hit Kelowna on Saturday afternoon, for an unscheduled stop before the 4th Annual tour begins.
During the annual coast-to-coast tour to assist local food banks, FHFF travels from East to West playing ball hockey and raising funds. The unexpected stop in Kelowna is to benefit the Kelowna Community Foodbank Society, which is on a long list of banks the organization has helped over the years.

“This year we will get to over 1 million pounds of food raised in total over the last four years,” said Vic, one of the organizers at the event in Kelowna. “Actually the guys who does our Graphic design John van der Woude, he is from Kelowna and he really wanted to get something going in his own community, which is why we are here.”
Two NHLers were in attendance to participate and support the event, with Wade Redden and Cody Franson suiting up to Five Hole For Food.

“I’m excited that we got two high profile guys to come out today,” Vic admitted, “we usually get one at each event on the tour, but we never get two so it’s nice to see!”

Even without the celebrity appearances, FFHF is a fun, athletic, family and community oriented event that the organizers are happy to put on, no matter who shows up.
“I still get to see people having fun,” Vic said about the experience, “we don’t have a trophy or anything, and we don’t even keep score. The idea is for people to come out, have a good time, donate and then walk away remembering an awesome and fun experience that they had.”

So far they have raised between $2,500 and $3,000 for the Kelowna Food Bank, which adds up to quite a bit of grub! For every dollar raised, three pounds of food can be bought for the bank!
If you want to get involved in FFHF, the games will go on until 5:00pm Saturday night at Stuart Park in Downtown Kelowna.
