The City of Kelowna 2013 Financial Report has been released and it details exactly what city employees earn each year.

The annual financial information report is mandatory for all municipalities to produce and this year the City will have it available online for residents to read. In addition to the financial statements, the report also includes the City’s strategic plan, highlights actions and efforts taken within the year.

The 2013 Employee Remuneration report shows an increase of 33 staff members earning more than $75,000 over the 2012 level. That number is split by the following: one management staff increase, 12 IAFF staff increase and 20 CUPE staff increased.

The total employee salary for 2013 has increased by about $2.1 million to $61 million. According to the report the increase is due to “annual incremental contract increases in 2013, including $1 million in retroactive wage payments to IAFF members.” Salary pay and expense reporting for council and mayor are also included in the report:

The highest paid City employee again this year is the City Manager Ron Mattiussi at $258,728 plus expenses, followed by Deputy City Manager Paul Macklem at $195,615 plus expenses. Kelowna Fire Captains also take home a hefty paycheck with all making more than $100,000 per year. CUPE staff wages are below those of the other employees with no one making $100,000 but still remain high averaging around $80,000 per year.
