12 Vehicle Accident on the Coquihalla Results in a Death

Another victim of a fatal accident has been identified by the BC Coroner’s Service, this one involving a motorcycle accident on the Coquihalla.

On July 19th Coquitlam’s Graham Pearce Overbury, 56, was riding his motorcycle southbound on the Coquihalla Highway at about 2:30 p.m. As Overbury rode south of the summit he passed through the snowshed tunnel and he came up on an incident at the end of the tunnel.

Two vehicles had collided at the south end and other vehicles had stopped abruptly to avoid that collision. Overbury’s motorcycle struck the stopped vehicles and several other vehicles following him were also unable to avoid the wreckage.

In total 12 vehicles were involved in the crash and Overbury, who was transported to Fraser Canyon Hospital in Hope, died as a result of his injuries. He leaves behind his partner and two son's.

The RCMP and Coroners’ Service continue to investigate the accident and no other details have been released.
