The Kelowna Women’s Shelter Thrift Store is having a hard time keeping up with all the donations it has been receiving lately.

Donations have been steadily coming into the store and as a result the Women’s Shelter will change the way it receives them to help streamline the process. In an effort to improve the flow of the donations, specific times and days will be set for anyone wanting to drop off new or gently used items.

Donations will be accepted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The Thrift Store will be unable to accept mattresses, box springs, large appliances, electronics, craft and sewing items, baby items and books and magazines. The store does accept men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, women’s footwear, linens, dishes/glasses, plastic items, cookware, electrical toys and some furniture items.

All proceeds from the Thrift Store supports the Kelowna Women’s Shelter, which provides emergency transitional housing, counseling and other support and education programs for women and their children who have experienced abuse.
