Inn from the Cold, a local Kelowna organization, is reaching out to the community and asking for donations for their Chandler Street Housing Project. The organization started an IndieGoGo fund on August 20th and with the closing date, October 19th, just around the corner, Inn From the Cold needs your help to facilitate a viable future for 8 homeless men in the community.

The donations will be used to meet the city requirements and obtain an occupancy permit on their new long-term housing project. Currently, only a quarter of the desired amount has been raised: $2,915 out of the $15,000 goal.

The Chandler Street Housing Project, currently delayed in renovations, will provide permanent housing to eight men suffering from severe homelessness. The Housing Project will facilitate the men with mental and physical support through individualized care plans, with the hopes of creating a healthier lifestyle and community for the men.

Inn From the Cold approaches the issue of homelessness with the mentality that providing housing is only the first step to a long-term goal of transitioning and integrating homeless individuals back into the community. The organizations' vision honours the dignity of all individuals, especially the most vulnerable, providing them with a safe, inclusive, and respectful space.

Implementing the project means finishing the renovations on the house as soon as possible. Monetary donations will go towards materials and labour, additional room furnishings, and operating costs.

IFTC is also looking for community or corporate sponsors to subsidize the Chandler Street Housing Project annually. In return, the charity will advertise their sponsors' logos on the building and website.

To donate, go to their IndieGoGo crowd funding page. They are also receiving material donations. For an up-to-date list of the necessary items on their website please click here.
