Vernon RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire after crews were called to a barn fire late Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to the report of an abandoned barn on fire in the 100 block of Kalamalka Lake Road. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire but have deemed it suspicious until the cause can be determined. An older house on the property near the barn was luckily not affected by the fire.

There have been 22 suspicious fires in Vernon since the start of the summer including hundreds of apple bins at the Growers Supply, the Kin Race Track and several car fires. All of the fires have yet to be linked but RCMP are investigating the possibility of a fire bug in the area.
