Vernon RCMP continues to investigate the fatal car crash that occurred on October 23rd on 32nd Street in Vernon.

Erin Rae Smith died at the scene after a minivan ran a red light and struck the car she was driving. The passenger in Smith’s vehicle who was injured remains in Vernon Jubilee Hospital as she continues her recovery.

RCMP believe that two men may have stopped to assist the victims and helped out at the scene for a few minutes but left before officers could speak with them.

“Investigators are asking the two men to please call the Vernon RCMP office so we can speak to them about their involvement with the crash victims that morning,” said RCMP Spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

Charges are being considered against the 37 year old driver of the van and she is under investigation for intoxication at the time of the collision.

Witnesses are asked to call the RCMP Detachment at 250-545-7171.
