Well Known Penticton Resident Killed in Vehicle Crash

A popular Penticton resident has been identified as the man killed in a vehicle incident on October 31st just outside of the city.

Thomas Vijiakumar Santosham, 74, died when the vehicle he was driving slid off the road and rolled into Farleigh Lake shortly after 6:30 a.m. about 12 kilometres west of Penticton. The vehicle was discovered by a neighbour around 8:00 a.m. and Santosham’s body recovered by the RCMP Dive Team.

Santosham was born in Vellore, South India and lived on an acreage beside Farleigh Lake for 14 years with his wife Penny. Shortly after retirement he was asked to design and teach a course in Global Marketing at Okanagan College.

Santosham was a valuable and active member of St. Saviour’s Anglican Church and well known in the community. He leaves behind his wife and two grown children. A funeral service will be held at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Penticton on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 p.m.

Santosham was the sole occupant of the SUV he was driving and the BC Coroner continues to investigate his death.
