An Okanagan man faces several charges for sexual offences involving minors.

Joshua James Roberts has been charged this week with sexual exploitation, luring a child, possession of child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, and assault with a weapon. Cst. Kris Clark says that the charges were laid on December 9, and Roberts appeared at Penticton Law Courts later this week.

Roberts has since been released with conditions, with his next court appearance scheduled for January 14 at 9 a.m. “Because of the nature of the offence—it was a person's offence—he will likely be placed on conditions of no contact, that sort of thing,” said Cst. Clark.

Roberts' case is under limited access publication under CCC 486.4, which provides for orders restricting publication of information that could identify a complainant or witness in a sexual offence.

Corrections: An earlier version of this story was titled "Okanagan Restaurant Owner Facing Child Porn Charges". It was erroneously reported that he was the owner of a number of Okanagan restaurants, which was incorrect.
