A sad story about some stolen Christmas gifts now has a happy ending thanks to Kelowna RCMP.

A vehicle was broken into on Thursday night in Kelowna, with the thief stealing all the gifts that a visiting Salmon Arm couple had brought for their family. As the upset couple reported the theft they were inconsolable, knowing that they didn't have any money to replace all of their carefully selected presents.

The story turned around, however, thanks to the constable investigating the theft. He sent a message to all officers and staff in the detachment, asking for donations to help out the pair. In only a couple hours, over $400 was raised, as well as some other gifts donated.

The couple was obviously extremely thankful for the RCMP's kindness in turning their sad tale into a heartwarming story of Christmas spirit.
