In two different areas of the U.S., a baby gorilla and a baby giraffe make their grand debut into society.

The Cincinnati Zoo celebrated its 50th gorilla birth on Wednesday, when the newest edition to the family made a brief appearance with mamma gorilla.

Coming on out of their gorilla home, the mother and father show off their latest little addition to a crowd of eager onlookers. Looking both adorable yet sleepy, it’s hard not to fall in love.

Meanwhile in Texas, the Houston Zoo also announced the birth of a female Masai giraffe.

“After a 3-hour long labor, both first-time mom Asali and the yet-to-be-named calf are doing well and are currently bonding behind the scenes with keeper and veterinary teams watching over the pair,” read a statement on the zoo’s Facebook page.

According to the zoo, the average giraffe pregnancy lasts from about 14 to 15 months. A new born calf typically weighs between 125 to 150 pounds at birth and measures approximately six feet tall.

“It’s always exciting when we have a new baby at the zoo, and when that baby is more than six feet tall, it’s an incredible moment,” said Hoofed Stock Supervisor John Register. “Our team is thrilled to welcome a new baby to our giraffe herd.” The calf weighs 160 pounds and is 6 feet, 3 inches tall.”
