If you love Pokémon and you love Ryan Reynolds, there’s no chance you won’t love this movie.
The first trailer has dropped for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, which stars B.C. born Ryan Reynolds and is based on the video game of the same name.
It’s the first live-action movie based on the popular Pokémon franchise and it’s set to be released in 3D on May 2019.
The film also stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and others in live-action roles and has many comparing it to the movie Ted, which stars Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg.
Smith plays Tim Goodman, who’s a failed Pokémon trainer who arrives in the fictional Ryme City and ends up meeting Detective Pikachu, voiced by Reynolds.
Pikachu was the former police partner of Harry Goodman, Tim’s father and a prominent Ryme City detective who disappeared in a car crash.
When it’s discovered that the young Goodman can understand Pikachu when he talks, the pair team up to try and find his father and uncover the mystery behind the missing detective’s disappearance.
The first trailer for the movie was released on Monday and it’s received plenty of attention, already skyrocketing to the number one trending spot on YouTube.
It’s sure to be a popular release in May and promises to be one of the more anticipated films of 2019.
