It appears the Kelowna Fan Experience expo was not just confined to the Kelowna Community Theatre last weekend.
On Saturday, Melissa Parent was driving towards the intersection of Pandosy Street and Cadder Avenue when a peculiar scene developed right before her eyes.
“We were driving home from a friend's house when about five cop cars pulled out in front of us and blocked the road,” explained Parent.
Guns drawn, police then ordered all surrounding cars to pull over and remain at a safe distance.
“Next thing we knew, Batman pulled up in front of us and sprung into action before getting sent away by the officers.”
The officers were not pleased to see Batman said Parent, as the vigilante quickly drew an excited crowd of onlookers.
According to Paul MacDougall with the Kelowna RCMP, officers had swarmed the intersection in response to a domestic incident possibly involving firearms.
While the investigation revealed no firearms were involved, Batman's presence was not needed and certainly unwanted.
“As to the presence of ‘Batman’ at the scene, when there is an unfolding event which is potentially serious in nature as most people would assume by the fact that members were deployed with carbines out the public should remain away from the area as they are putting themselves and the lives of the responding members in jeopardy.
“Situations like this are dynamic and subject to change very quickly, the presence of ‘Batman’ or anyone else is an unwanted distraction and foolish as they are placing themselves at risk,” said MacDougall.
