A story of lost and found again has revealed some stunning wildlife footage out of Vancouver Island.

Posted on Facebook by Haida Gwaii resident Jimmy Utah, the clip shows a convocation of eagles feeding beachside on a what appears to be a washed up sea creature.

The footage shows the eagles tearing at the carcass before the bird actually clenches the camera in its talons and takes flight.

While the footage is captivating by itself, how it came to be also comes with an interesting back story.

According to Utah, the GoPro was originally carried away by an eagle before the video took place.

Following the feeding frenzy, the GoPro was made airborne a second time and dropped back onto the beach.

The compact camera was then discovered by an "honest tourist" who completed some "detective work" to return the camera featuring the epic footage.
