(UPDATE: Oct. 18 @ 9 a.m.) - Charges have been formally laid against the B.C. man who made national headlines by swimming naked in the shark tank at Ripley's Aquarium of Canada last week.

Toronto Police say that David Weaver, 37, is facing one count of assault causing bodily harm and two mischief-related charges.

The assault charges are from an incident that took place just hours before the dip in the shark tank, when Weaver allegedly assaulted a man outside a Toronto dinner theatre.

Weaver then allegedly made his way to the aquarium, where he was caught on video swimming naked in the shark tank.

The Nelson man was arrested near Thunder Bay earlier in the week and was brought to Toronto to face the three charges.

(UPDATE: Oct. 16 @ 5:30 p.m.) - Earlier today, the Toronto Police identified the man that took a naked swim in the shark tank at Ripley's Aquarium of Canada.

Not only was it a B.C. man, but he was also wanted for assault causing bodily harm, which took place a short time before the shark tank incident on Friday night.

That man, 37-year-old David Weaver of Nelson, was arrested in Thunder Bay, Ont. by the Ontario Provincial Police this afternoon.

Toronto Police are now working with the provincial police force to bring Weaver back to Toronto, where he'll face charges.

(Original story: Oct. 15 @ 9:10 a.m.) - This was a ballsy move, literally.

On Friday night, a man stripped naked and jumped into the shark tank at the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.

Police received a call about the incident at 10:31 p.m., but by the time they arrived on scene seven minutes later the man was gone.

“I was there and the people I was with ran in to him at Union later,” said a commenter on Reddit. “He got away.”

Toronto police are now looking to speak with that man, says spokeswoman Katrina Arrogante.

She confirmed the reports that the man jumped into the massive shark tank on the main floor of the aquarium, but it was confirmed by multiple videos as well.

One clip shows the entire incident clearly, but it’s nowhere close to being suitable for work as you can see the man’s genitals during the video.

If you still want to proceed and watch, you can click this link.

The one video of the incident that shows only the man’s backside, and not his genitals, is taken from the underwater view of the shark tank on the floor below.

You can view that video below, but once again you can consider it NSFW.
