A Twitter user managed to capture some frightening footage between a member of the Vancouver Police department and a helmetless cyclist over the weekend.

Posted shortly after 3 pm on Sunday, Aug. 18, Vancouver Twitter user Village Whisperer, shared a short clip of a cyclist appearing to zoom into oncoming traffic.

The male rider is seen narrowly missing a collision with an approaching car, maneuvering himself and the bike to one side, hitting the pavement.

Just seconds later an already breaking police van comes into frame, with the rider taking notice and quickly attempting to move out of the vehicle’s path.

Despite his efforts, the cyclist is struck from behind by the van and tossed forward. The video ends shortly after the man slides along the roadway, luckily alive.

This is not the first bizarre and scary vehicle incident to be caught on film in Vancouver this summer.

On August 12, footage of a motorist driving on a bike lane along Vancouver's seawall surfaced, just one month after a video of a woman who drove her car down a flight of stairs in the city's downtown core arose.
