The Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild battled it out in an exciting back-and-forth game on Wednesday, which was eventually won by Minnesota in a shootout.

However, the best on-ice action at Rogers Arena may have come during the second intermission.

The dogs of six Canucks players took to the ice for the first ever Canucks Top Dog race and it was almost exactly what you’d expect.

Before racing, all six of Gus Horvat, Emma Pearson, Lili Benn, Riley Tanev, Zeus Gaudette and Phoebe Stecher were introduced to the crowd.

They strolled out onto the ice wearing their dad’s jerseys and were guided to their respective lanes as the fans anxiously awaited the big race.

Finally, it was go time and the in-game host told the good boys and girls to go, but only half of them really did.

Phoebe, Zeus and Emma took off for the other end while Gus, Lili and Riley wandered around near the starting line.

In the end, it was Emma Pearson crossed the finish line first, narrowly edging out Phoebe and Zeus for the crown of Canucks Top Dog.

All the dogs were winners in our books and we just hope this is the first of many Canucks Top Dog races to come.
