(UPDATE: Nov. 29 @ 3:20 pm) – The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is now investigating the erratic driver that crashed outside Peachland on Highway 97.

Around 3:45 pm on Friday, the Kelowna BCHP unit was conducting a stationary speed enforcement when a southbound SUV traveling over the speed limit and signalled it to stop.

However, the lone driver continued with no attempt to stop and the officer pursued the vehicle.

The driver, who is known to the police, did not make it far before the officer apprehended him and took him to hospital to treat injuries.

All cases that involve an individual sustaining injuries when police are involved in any way are turned over to the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO BC).

However, the office concluded that the case did not require further involvement or investigation.

The BCHP in Kelowna is aware of a video provided to the media that has been widely circulated and they will continue to investigate the incident.

The driver is facing potential criminal charges for failing to stop for police, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and prohibited driving.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact BCHP in Kelowna at 250-491-5354.

Brendan Miller took to Facebook Saturday following his son's hockey game to share an outrageous dashcam video.

In the three-minute clip, a vehicle is seen weaving through traffic before it crashes into the rocks on Hwy 97. The video was shared over 1,000 times on Facebook.

Miller noted that the driver of the vehicle was allegedly trying to evade the cops. At this point, any injuries to the driver and why they were running are unknown.
