An unlikely wildlife interaction captured on Vancouver Island over the weekend is racking up the views on YouTube.

Shot near Port McNeil on the northern tip of the island, the footage shows a pair of black bear cubs climbing to the very top of a large tree.

Upon arriving it becomes apparent the young cubs have found an eagle’s nest as two large birds angrily circle above.

According to the post, which has nearly 20,000 views in two days, no eaglets or eggs were eaten by the bears.

Some comments suggest that the bears may have been after scrap fish remnants left in the nest, while others theorize the smaller bear was being chased by the larger one.

The post does confirm that both bears made it down afterward the peculiar adventure.
