Come for an afternoon of workshops and skills training that will provide tools and strategies to build solidarity and organizing for rallies and for the upcoming provincial election. SUNDAY JANUARY 27, 2013. 2-5 pm. First United Church, corner of Bernard and Richter, Kelowna.

Be inspired and energized with the leadership of campaigners from the Dogwood Initiative and Lead Now.

We will be joining with Victoria and Vancouver in the creation of HOPE THE WHALE: a 25 foot whale that will be taken to the Enbridge Northern Gateway hearings. YOUR messages or own ‘sharpie’ artwork will be displayed on the blue drops that will surround the whale.

Short term strategies, such as poster making and preparing for rallies on January 28 will be highlighted. Bring poster material for yourself and to share. In addition, we will cover long term strategies to make an impact on the upcoming provincial election.

Despite the flaws in the review process, these hearings present a strategic opportunity to leverage opposition to pipelines and tankers.

This event foreshadows the community hearing of the Joint review panel on Monday, January 28, 2013, Kelowna, BC. (Kelowna is the only community in the Interior that has been designated to host the JRP). On January 28, concerned citizens will be encouraged to either bear witness with honor to the testimonies given at the hearing or to engage in organized rallies at designated public locations.

With governments, opposition parties, the media and Canadians across the country watching closely, it's a key moment to send a clear message that First Nations and communities across BC have already rejected Enbridge's pipelines and tankers and that Kelowna joins with them in the wall of opposition.

The organizing committee is comprised of a coalition of concerned citizens and non-governmental organizations.

NEXT EVENT: No pipelines no tankers will be at Ecotone 2013 4-2am Rotary Center Feb 2nd
