Canada’s National Firearms Association (NFA) is turning heads this month as they have released a Christmas card featuring Santa giving a child a rifle.

The card references the 1984 film a Christmas Story as it has the words “Don’t shoot your eye out, kid!” on it. In the film little Ralph’s family tells him he cannot get a BB gun for Christmas because he’ll shoot his eye out with it. The words “No Ho Ho Compromise” are also on the card wishing people a Merry Christmas.

The rifle in question appears to be Windham AR-15, the same gun used in the NFA slogan “No Compromise.” The pro-gun lobby group again gained headlines a few months ago when Justice Minister Peter MacKay was snapped wearing a No Compromise t-shirt bearing the NFA logo. MacKay said he wore the shirt at the Conservative Party fundraiser to show support for an Afghan veteran.

The AR-15 is a restricted firearm in Canada but similar models are available in the United States. That type of gun was recently used in the Sandy Hook school shooting.

So what does the NFA think about all this chatter regarding the card? They say keep talking "We appreciate the free advertising."
