The small Saskatchewan town of Tisdale is considering changing its longstanding slogan of “The Land of Rape and Honey.”
The community in Northeast Saskatchewan is home to over 3,500 people and is one of the richest agricultural areas of the province. The slogan, which was chosen decades ago, refers to rapeseed, a bright yellow crop that was a precursor to canola. The slogan has been the butt of jokes for years, as the word rape is closely associated with the sexual offence, not commonly as rapeseed.

Now the town is considering rebranding and changing the slogan to something a bit more modern that better reflects the community. The town has posted a survey on its website asking residents what they think of the current slogan and whether or not it should be changed.
Other slogans up for suggestion include Hub of the Northeast; A Place to Grow; A Place to Bee; and Land of Canola and Honey.
