Calgary police have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in the disappearance of a five-year-old girl.

According to police, a man was taken into custody Wednesday evening as he is believed to have been driving a dark grey sedan in the Panorama community where the girl was abducted and her mom murdered.

Police say the car was seen driving close to where homicide victim Sara Baillie’s car had been recovered. CCTV footage has been obtained by investigators and shows the car around the time Taliyah Leigh Marsman was last believed to been seen.

The Amber Alert for Marsman remains in effect as the little girl is still missing. Police confirm they are now searching a rural area east of Calgary, but are keeping tight-lipped about the details. The suspect’s name has not yet been released and police are expected to update the public Thursday morning.
