For those who have been patiently (or impatiently) waiting, the time has finally come. Pokemon Go is now available in Canada.

On Sunday, the app posted the good news on their Twitter account.

Even before it was official, thousands of Canadians were already playing Pokémon Go – an augmented reality video game where users wander around their neighbourhoods to catch animated characters called Pokémon on their phones.

Using GPS and an overlay on the camera, Pokémon characters pop up on your screen, blending the virtual world of Pokémon with real city landmarks.

Pokémon Go was released in the United States on July 6 and quickly became number one on the Apple App Store and on Android’s Google Play. It was later released in over 30 other countries.

Finally, Canadians can join in on the fun.

The only downside is that with the rush of people of people downloading the app many have reported that it isn’t working.

According to the app, they will have their server up and running as soon as possible.
