An Enbridge pipeline leak at an industrial site in Alberta on Friday has resulted in the spill of approximately 200,000 litres of oil condensate.
Clean up efforts are currently ongoing at the Enbridge site in Strathcona County after the Line 2A pipeline was damaged by a third-party line strike, Enbridge said in an information update.
“There was [a] line strike that took place during construction activity by a third party contractor, unrelated to Enbridge but crossing Enbridge’s Right of Way,” read a statement from Enbridge on it’s website.
The light crude oil condensate that leaked has since been contained to an excavation pit at the site.
Enbridge is currently monitoring air quality and also working with regulators and third parties to address the situation as well as keep the general community updated.

So far there have been no reports of injuries, fires, evacuations or risks to public safety.
The incident is under investigation.
The news comes at a time when a number of people across Canada are anxious about the risks associated with pipeline use and construction.
