2 travellers issued $1,000 fines for refusing to wear masks on Canadian flights

 Two travellers have been issued fines after refusing to wear a mask on their flight.
 
Transport Canada said that it issued the first fines in the country for breaking an interim order.


 
Two individuals have been fined $1,000 each for refusing to follow the direction from the air crew.
 
The first incident occurred on June 14, 2020 on a WestJet flight from Calgary to Waterloo, Ontario, and the second on July 7, 2020 on a WestJet flight from Vancouver to Calgary.
 
In both incidents, the individuals were directed repeatedly by the air crew to wear their face coverings during the flights and in both cases, the individuals refused.

Under the interim order, all travellers must wear their mask while boarding, during their flight, and while disembarking the aircraft all the way up to the moment they enter the air terminal.
