A pair of young girls are in hospital following a shooting in Scarborough, Ont.

Toronto Police responded to the scary incident at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

They report that a man opened fire on another man who was in a small park in the McCowan Road and Alton Towers Circle area.

Also in the small park at the time, which features a little playground, were 11 small children.

The man missed his target, but the stray bullets struck a pair of girls aged 5 and 9.

They were rushed to hospital by Toronto Paramedic Services and underwent surgery for their injuries, which are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police are now on the hunt for the suspect, who fled the area in a black, four-door Nissan Versa Sedan, believed to be a 2007-2011 model.

Photos of the car have been released, but the suspect hasn’t been located yet.
