The house always wins.

It’s certainly easy to see when you take a look at how much certain countries or American states are losing per day due to casino closures during COVID-19.

Unsurprisingly, Nevada tops the list, as the state is losing more than $33-million USD in revenue every day

Canada is struggling in that regard as well, however, as the country as a whole comes in fourth on the list with just under $23-million CAD in revenue lost per day.

The study simply aimed to uncover which destinations around the world were losing the most money thanks to casinos being closed since the spring.

Without a doubt, the final numbers highlight the devastating scale of financial loss as the industry scrambles to adapt and more people find themselves gambling online.

“The last year has demonstrated that online gambling offers a safer and more accessible alternative to casinos, allowing people to play from the comfort of their own homes,” said Aiden Howe, chief editor of bestcasinos.net.

“While nothing can replace the unique thrill of Las Vegas or Macau, it’s exciting to see how the industry is adapting to digitisation and the opportunities provided by increased connectivity at all corners of the planet.”

In British Columbia, money generated from gambling is used to provide key services to people, including health care and education, and supports economic development throughout the province.
