With a high standard of living and multicultural society, Canadians have it pretty good.

A recent global ranking has pointed it out too, naming Canada as the second best country in the world for the second year in a row.

The 2018 Best Countries report rankings were based on “how global perceptions define countries in terms of a number of qualitative characteristics, impressions that have the potential to drive trade, travel, and investment."

The report cites some of Canada’s assets as being Céline Dion, Sarah McLachlan, our national policy of multiculturalism, our peacekeeping efforts, and our oil reserves.

The report covered 80 nations, scored using 65 attributes that were grouped into nine subrankings - adventure, citizenship, cultural influence, entrepreneurship, heritage, movers, open for business, power, and quality of life.

Switzerland was the number one ranking country, followed by Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan in the top five.
