Now there’s a better way to view one of the most beautiful natural phenomena the great north has to offer.

Starting Tuesday, September 18th, you’ll be able to purchase tickets for a flight to the Aurora Borealis, a true Yukon treasure, via Yukon's airline Air North.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience will take you 36,000 feet in the air, giving you an eye-level view of the Northern Lights.

According to Anthony Gucciardo, President of the Yukon Astronomical Society, one of the best places to see the Northern Lights in the northern hemisphere is in the Yukon.

"This flight will allow guests to see the northern lights from within the auroral oval, meaning the area with the highest probability of seeing the northern lights,” says Gucciardo.

"With hints of neon colour, and then a jagged burst of green, flight-goers will be transfixed by the shimmering Aurora Borealis,” says Ben Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer for Air North, Yukon's Airline.

The group will offer one chartered flight from Whitehorse, which will take place on either November 24th or 25th pending the aurora forecast.

Pre-flight welcome reception and entertainment will take place at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon. Pending final flight route, each participant will receive a certificate from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, stating that they have crossed the Arctic Circle.

“This new aurora flight offering will capture the hearts and imaginations of travellers from everywhere, and we are incredibly excited to be part of the group pioneering a new kind of aurora tourism," says Robin Anderson, Global Marketing Manager at Tourism Yukon.
