Canadian billionaire husband and wife found dead in their home

Canadian billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found dead in the basement of their Toronto mansion today.

The death of the Shermans, who were living in the North York area, is still being investigated.

Dr. Eric Hoskins, the Ontario Health Minister who made the announcement, tweeted he was "beyond words" on learning about the death of his friends.

"Wonderful human beings, incredible philanthropists, great leaders in health care," said Hoskins. "A very, very sad day."

Born in Toronto in 1942, Barry Sherman was the CEO and chairman of Apotex Inc., a pharmaceutical company.

At 16 years of age, Sherman was the youngest student to enter the University of Toronto's Engineering Science program.

With a net worth of US$3.7 billion, Sherman was ranked by Forbes as the seventh wealthiest Canadian.

Barry Sherman was 75-years-old and his wife was 70-years-old.
