A Newfoundland and Labrador man has been arrested following a strange incident on Friday night.

The 48-year-old was being transported to hospital by an ambulance in Flower’s Cove, NL when he decided to take matters into his own hands.

He allegedly assaulted one of the paramedics before stealing the ambulance he was being transported in.

The suspect didn’t make it far, however, as he crashed the ambulance at the side of the road a short distance later.

Flower’s Cove RCMP arrived on scene and took the man into custody.

RCMP say the investigation is still ongoing and charges against him are pending.
