A Canadian girl has died after an incident at a Quebec ski resort.

The 15-year-old died after falling from a ski chairlift at Mont-Vidéo Ski Centre on Wednesday night.

Quebec police say the girl and her friend were attempting to perform a trick that involved jumping from the chairlift at the Barraute, Que. resort.

While the girl’s friend was successful, the 15-year-old victim fell onto a snow-covered boulder.

The fall caused significant injuries, which required her to be immediately transported to hospital, said Sgt. Marie-Josee Ouellet.

Sadly, the Val-d’Or resident died a short time later.

Police are still investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident, which happened around 9:15 p.m., and it’s not known whether the friends were skiing or snowboarding.

Mont-Video Ski Centre is closed today because of the incident and management was not available for a comment at this time.
