“If I fits I sits.” That’s what this cat said before crawling inside a parcel, only to be shipped 1,200 km.

The Montreal SPCA was surprised to receive a call from Purolator saying a cat was discovered in a package that was shipped from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia - yes, you read that correctly.

Baloo, a 1-year-old cat, spent 17 hours in a parcel after crawling inside, probably to take a cat nap. Everyone knows that cats love boxes, so the theory is that Baloo snuck into the shipping box while no one was paying attention.

Luckily, the story had a happy ending, as Baloo was unharmed and was able to be reunited with her family for the holidays.

“Our research quickly allowed us to trace Baloo's family and to get in touch with his owner who was desperately searching for him,” said the Montreal SPCA. “She had posted posters of her beloved cat in her neighborhood and had sent several cries of heart on social networks to find her animal. When she learned that her cat was in Montreal and was doing well, Baloo's "mother" cried with relief.”

If you’ve got lots of parcels waiting to be shipped at home, you might want to double check that you aren’t sending the family pet off on a journey like Baloo’s.
