Forbes has released their 2018 Canada's Best Employers list

Forbes has released their annual list of Canada’s Best Employers, and four B.C. companies made it into the top 50 of the massive list.

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar made it into the top 25. Sitting at 23rd, the restaurant chain was the highest ranking company from our province. Simon Fraser University came in 26th, WorkSafeBC at 33rd, and Island Health in Victoria was 42nd.

Some other notable B.C. companies made it into the ranking, including the University of British Columbia in 97th, and BC Hydro at 142.

The 2018 ranking includes 300 companies across Canada and was compiled in collaboration with a research firm called Statista. Statista surveyed 8,000 Canadians working in 25 different industry sectors, asking them to rank their employer on a scale of one to 10.

Google received the title of number one best employer in Canada, headquartered in Toronto with 699 employees. This is the second year in a row that the tech giant has claimed the top spot.

Here are the top 5 employers in Canada, according to Forbes:

  1. Google - Toronto, Ont. 
  2. Kruger Products - Mississauga, Ont.
  3. Hydro-Québec - Montréal, Que.
  4. SAP - Toronto, Ont. 
  5. Vitalité Health Network - Bathurst, N.B.
