Just one day after removing the "Freedom Convoy 2022" fundraiser for “violence and unlawful activity” in Ottawa, GoFundMe has made an announcement.

According to the organization, all those who donated to the convoy will be given an automatic refund. Donors can expect to receive their funds in the next seven to 10 business days.

Originally, GoFundMe was to disperse the money to other established charities as well as to those who applied for a refund.

"To simplify the process for our users, we will be refunding all donations to the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser," wrote GoFundMe. "This refund will happen automatically—you do not need to submit a request."

GoFundMe credited the change in approach to "donor feedback."

"The update we issued earlier enabled all donors to get a refund and outlined a plan to distribute remaining funds to verified charities selected by the Freedom Convoy organizers."

"However, due to donor feedback, we are simplifying the process and automatically refunding donations."

This particular fundraiser brought in upwards of $10 million. Police and the mayor of Ottawa thanked the organization for halting the funds.

NowMedia will update the story when more information is available.
