It will be a memorable long weekend for many Canadians who are looking to add a pet to the family.

Pets from all over North America will be transported to PetSmart locations across Canada over the May Long Weekend.

There will be 1,500 animals available for adoption at more than 130 stores across Canada.

The three-day event aims to get as many of these dogs, cats and other small pets into loving homes.

PetSmart, along with the Animal Welfare Organizations that it teams up with to make these events happen, try to make the adoption process as easy as possible too.

“The amazing organizations we work with ensure each pet is spayed and neutered prior to adoption, giving you added peace of mind as you search for your new best friend,” reads an event description.

The National Adoption Weekend event runs from Friday through Sunday, with 9 a.m. start times on Friday and Saturday and a 10 a.m. start on Sunday.

Visit the PetSmart website to find out how many pets will be at the location closest to you, as well as more information on the event.
