Hurricane Irma hits category 5 in Cuba

The National Hurricane Center reported on Saturday that Hurricane Irma has landed near the northern coast of central Cuba as a category 5.

Winds have been reported at 160 mph, or 257 km/h.

On Friday, the National Hurricane Center advised residents of Florida who could evacuate, to leave.

Walt Disney World also announced on Saturday that it would be closed from Sunday, September 10th to Monday, September 11th due to Hurricane Irma.

Walt Disney World released a statement on the closure on Saturday.

Hurricane Jose is active northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving at wind speeds of 145 mph or 233 km/h. However, NASA reported that Hurricane Jose should miss hitting Antigua and Barbuda.

The good news is that Hurricane Katia has dissipated near eastern Mexico and is winding down.
