Looking for some part-time work?

StatsCan is hiring tens of thousands of Canadians as it prepares to conduct a physically distanced census this year.

The national agency is currently hiring nearly 32,000 people across Canada to help collect demographics data.

Those hired will be offered pay of $17.83 per hour for part-time, non-supervisory jobs, or $21.77 per hour for full-time, supervisory “crew leader” jobs.

Pay rates are higher in Northern and remote communities.

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, and need to be Canadian citizens or otherwise eligible to work in Canada.

The hiring process will include a security assessment that includes a criminal record check and a credit check, Statistics Canada said on its website.

The census is used to paint “a portrait of Canada’s population and the places where we live,” said the agency.

“Information from the census will ensure that your community has the data it needs for planning schools, daycare, housing, hospitals, emergency services, roads, public transportation, and employment skills training.”

You can apply for agency jobs through the StatsCan website.
