A Dawson City bar’s famous mummified toe is back at the Downtown Hotel.

The “sour toe,” which is the key part of the hotel’s famous “sourtoe cocktail,” was stolen from the hotel bar early on Sunday morning.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dawson City RCMP and the hotel received separate calls from the alleged suspect saying that the toe was on the way back via mail.

On Thursday, the package with the famous toe in it arrived at the hotel.

Cpl. Jeff Myke attended the scene to ensure the package was safe to open, which it was.

Inside the package was the missing toe, which was in good condition, as well as a written apology from the suspect.

Charges are not expected to be laid against the man.

The unique “sourtoe cocktail” was introduced in 1973 and has been a staple of the Downtown Hotel and Dawson City ever since.

Around 70,000 people have tried a drink with the toe in it.
